Over three decades ago, in an era when the polio vaccine was still in its early stages, Bala (affectionately known as Balchander) received the polio vaccination. Unexpectedly, instead of protecting him, it led to a life-long battle with polio. Despite the challenges posed by his left leg affected by polio, Bala defied the odds by actively participating in various sports during his school days.

It was when Bala relocated to Chennai that he discovered the world of Wheelchair Tennis. Initially unfamiliar with using a wheelchair, he faced the sport's demanding nature, which necessitates precise coordination between the wheelchair, tennis racquet, and the ball. However, fueled by his indomitable spirit, unwavering practice, and avidly watching Wheelchair Tennis athletes on YouTube, Bala shattered barriers and currently holds an impressive ranking of #3 in India. His ultimate dream is to secure a Grand Slam victory and achieve recognition at the Paralympics. Bala passionately expresses, "Between rallies, I prefer to unabashedly express my emotions, and our primary objective is to win medals for our country." He draws inspiration from revered figures such as Roger Federer and Shinzo Kunieda, who serve as his role models in this journey towards excellence.

Beyond the tennis court, Bala serves as a Development Manager for an IT company. His two children serve as his constant motivation, propelling him forward. During leisure moments, Bala finds solace in reading and watching enlightening videos by Sadhguru.

Bala's incredible story exemplifies the triumph of resilience and determination in the face of adversity. He continues to inspire others, showcasing the boundless potential that lies within every individual, regardless of the challenges they face.
